Portable Dust Collection Solutions for the Dust Laden Fracturing Process

Our company specializes in providing dust collection equipment designed to capture, contain and easily dispose of dust and other airborne debris related the fracturing process. Our reasonable priced heavy duty and reliable dust collection systems are available in sizes and configurations that maximize production while minimizing footprint, fuel consumption and operator intervention.

Several factors are involved in deciding what dust collection system is best for your site.

The number of “dust generators” requiring collection points

The distance between where the collector is going to be set-up for use and those collection points

The way the site intends on transferring the collected dust for disposal- Drum, Bulk Bag, 20 yard Container or Other

NIOSH has identified six primary dust generating operations during hydraulic fracturing operations that would benefit from self-contained on-site dust collection systems:

Dust ejected from thief hatches (access ports) on top of the sand movers during refilling operations while the machines are running (hot loading).

Dust ejected and pulsed through open side fill ports on the sand movers during refilling operations.

Dust generated by on-site vehicle traffic.

Dust released from the transfer belt under the sand movers.

Dust created as sand drops into, or is agitated in, the blender hopper and on transfer belts.

Dust released from operations of transfer belts between the sand mover and the blender; and

Dust released from the top of the end of the sand transfer belt (dragon’s tail) on sand movers.

Determining worker exposure levels is important for selecting the right type of control measures, including on-site self-contained dust collection systems, engineering controls and respiratory protection.

Keep in mind though; half-face respirators are not protective for silica levels over 10 times the exposure limit. NIOSH also found that sand movers, blender operators, and workers downwind of these types of operations (especially during hot loading), had the highest silica exposures. Workers also working upwind and not in the immediate area of sand movers (sand delivery truck spotters) also had exposures above the NIOSH REL.
